Majr Isaac Fulkerson told me that there was an old claim on the Small Tract of land lying adjoining the lands of Judge Brown in the ( ) Missouri, and that he should like to own it he then states that himself & another had attempted to build a pou[ ] mill I believe on it & his partner had got killed & that he had done nothing more towards it.

There were two Judge Browns. The father lived in Staunton but occasionally held court in Wythe County. His son, Judge James Ewell Brown lived in Wythe County.

A James Fulkerson settled on the Holston River in the 1700s.
