State of Tennessee    Davidson County    January the 18th 1835

Dear mother after the date of the last letter Marietta continued sick and verry weak and length at length miscarried an infant which soon decided the point She died the 19th of October She was perfectly willing to die she was here eleven weeks before she died and there was seven of my family down at the same time with the same complint the conjestive fever Nancyann has not entirely recovered yet during the time of sickness the house was crowded with neighbors an doctors: on the night of the 7 th inst. Wm Ramsey and his family started on a steam boat down the river to the Mississippi I dont nor he dont know where to I stayed with them until after eleven oclock at knight on the warf I return home the next day and was instantly taken with a pleurisy cold which had like to terminated my existence this being the tenth day I have not sat up one minit yet the doctor that I lack nothing but good care and attention to be raised yet the rest of the family are all enjoying tollerable health Caty and family are all well at present Guygh T Gleaves is a goeing rite as soon as the land is divided soe that you will have another opportunity of hereing from me no
nothing more at present but remain your affectionate son until death

N B: I have just received a letter from Sally Allen which states that she has just removed to warren County Kentucky and she is well pleased with her new home she informed us that her son George was expected to marry about to marry: they live in three miles of the dripping springs post office: She states in her letter that Margaret Turk and her family are all well aunt Jane Allen is yet a liveing :John Ramsey is married to a verry decent girl and has settled in this neighborhood and bids fare to make a liveings; my married children are all well but Eliza give my best respects to brother James and sister Malvina and sister Nancy and save a part to yourself
