Randolph Rutherford signed a note for $10.00 to Preston Robertson as evidence of his good faith in acting as surety for Roberston on another note made by Robertson to pay a debt.

A surety is a person who agrees to be responsible for the debt or obligation of another.

A credit is the same as a payment.
