Wythe C. H. 14 Febr. 1838

My Dear Friend,
You remember perhaps, that before your Departure for Richmond I told you I would write to you during the session in order to receive our school quota for the ensuing Year. For this reason, I have annexed to this letter, also an other Letter for the second auditor, which you will please to cut off from yours, seated up and deliver it. At the Bottom of this you also find an order to the auditor to pay you the money, You will cut this [ ] off, and present it to him. I have nothing of consequ[ence] to communicate to you, except that Charles Crokett is a Candidate and no body in opposition, this will never do to give the Whiggs such a trium[ph] over us. You must come out again and if you can [ ] succeed with Your amendement in the Charter of our watering Company, so as to prevent our County Court from putting their hands again in to the peoples pockett, without their consent, I will insure You a larger majority of votes, then you had last year. Let us know in time your intention.
[ ] I am Yours & obt
[John] Stanger

James T. Gleaves
