To all to whom these presents shall come Know ye that for divers good causes and considerations are thereto moving I. Thomas Turk of Adair County and State of Kentucky Do by these presents nominate constitute and appoint Alexander Jamison of the County and State aforesaid my true and lawful Attorney in fact for me and in my name and Stead and for my use and benifet to go to the County of Wythe and State of Virginia and there to receive from the Executor Executors Execortrix or administrator with the will annexed of William Gleaves deceased formerly of said County and then and there to receive from the Person or Persons aforesaid one Negroe Girl named Kizy which I am informed has been willed to my wife, Peggy by the said William Gleaves her father and upon the receipt of said Girl to execute to the person who may be authorized to receive the same any such receipt discharge and acquittance as may be necessary to indemnify them for such delivery to him And I do further authorize my said attorney upon the receipt of said Girl Kizy to

sell her to such person as he may deem proper for the best price that can be had and in my name and on my behalf to execute to the Purchasor such Bill of Sale with warranty or otherwise or may be required to transfer a good title to said girl and I do hereby agree to ratify confirm and make valid every act of my said Attorney which he may be authorized to perform in virtue of the power herein Granted. Witness my Hand & Seal this 22nd Dec 1823.

I William Caldwell, Clerk of the County Court for the said County do certify that on this 22nd day of December 1823 Thomas Turk whose name is affixed to the foregoing Letter of Attorney Personally appeared before me in my office and acknowledged the same to be his Act & Deed and that I have recorded the said Letter of Attorney and this Certificate in my said office as required by law. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the Seal of the said County Court this 22 day of December 1823 and 32nd year of the Commonwealth
