Dear Brother
     Yours of the twenty first of August has come to hand which informs me you and your family is all well at that time you rote the letter and that Mother enjoys a tolerable per portion of health for a woman of her age. You also rote that Mrs. Crockett was lying at the point of death and her daughter Margaret also and that the family was very much distess. It allways makes me sorry to heare of my friends bein in distress but sickness and affliction we are compeled to bare. Your letter found me and my family well. We thank God for his blessings he bestows on us. Hoping this will find you all well when this come to hand.

As brother Thomas is lying at the point of death at this time with the pleuricy. It is thought he is a little better this morning. The rest of your relations are well as far as I now (know) at this time in Tennessee We have had a very wet summer. Wheat crops but sorry. Oats very good. Corn very good. Cotton is remarkable lickly this season. You rote you had filed a bil in Chancery for the money that Joseph Belshey owe me and you thought you would git a Decree this fall for the money. You will please to rite to me wheather you git a Decree or not and if you git one rit (write) when the money will be ready. It would suit me best to come in this winter for it. Nothing more at present but remains your with Esteme. Please give my best respects to Malvina and your little son and my Mother and sister Nancy and sister Porter and family.
