Randal Rutherford died in January, 1841 and left James T. Gleaves as the executor of his will. At the public sale of Rutherford's land, Gleaves was the buyer. Because he was also the executor for the estate, the courts had to handle the transfer of the land. This is the receipt for the court handling this transction. Note that it took over 5 years for the transfer of the deed to Gleaves.
