                     Emory & Henry College June 5th 1841
Dear Friend
     It is with great pleasure that
avail my [  ] of the preasent opportunity of renewing
former [ ] M.J..Moore received a letter from
you yesterday [  ] you requested me to write
to you.  I [  ] for some time to write
to you since [  ] was still in the land of the living
but you [  ] is fast approaching
and we have [  ] apply our selves closely or we will
get in  You [  ] all with is comeing  I am glad to
hear that they [  ] comeing but I can tell you what
it is I would not like to get in about them times
but come on the hole generation of you for I expect
the heavens will dark with their resounding artillery,
the mountains will bellow with deep convulsions,
the waves of our mighty offering hands will sweep
from shore to shore, and our towering college
will shake from its foundation and behold  they
will bring forth a mouse.  I do not know whether
you have heard of the appointments for our exabition
or not, but I will give you some of the names of those
appointed   John A. Kelly my class was appointed to
deliver a salutatory address on latin, M J Moore declaims
Vaneation and meself speaks a Greek dialogue, I expect
it will be rather casey.  Where has my things taken place
since you left hear but I suppose nothing but what
you have heard.  I expect we have some of the rarest
animals hear that ever stuck a fork in the college

three or four fellows talkng in my room.  You must be
sure to come to our examination   I want us to have a
long talk on matters and things in general, just bring
as many ladies as you please [  ] going on tolerably
smoothe, old Charley feels pretty bad [  ] year since his
heart has left  I wish he would [  ] just hoping
you must write to me soon [  ] about yourself &
our examination  converses on [  ] ends on the 30
of this month, I am your [  ]
