Transcriber Notes

The interest on this note began to accrue on April 13, 1842, which is probably the date on which he signed the note. There is no indication as to the nature of the debt, but it may have been for payment of goods or debts incurred which Rutherford mentioned in his several letters to Major James T. Gleaves, 1841-1842. The calculations show that the debt principal was $19.06, with accumulated interest of $1.64 ½ approximately 17 months later.
