Dear Sir,

According to my promise I now will write you a few lines, which I should have done ere this time but, I put it off from time to time thinking if perhaps I would occur one from you. Franklin Harris received a letter you a few weeks & told me that he intended answering it, though I do not know whether he did or not, as his correspondence in Richmond employs so much of his time that he scarcely ever writes home much less to anyone else. one single day in two weeks, except on Sundays, that there have not been some three or four quarrels and always two fights. You must be certain to come to the examination as we will have lots of Pals. How many Scholars have you? How many has Wm Bogle? You may listen to hear that about ten or fifteen of the boys are expelled, because, they go to Webbs regularly both night and day & drink spirits by the quart here and every where else they can find it.

You must answer this soon. Nothing more at present.
I remain yours
J H Traylor
