Dear Wythe
Having leisure at this moment I concluded to write to you-to let you know  I am well-&c  without giving any news for that I have not-but if ever so abundantly supplied-it wont be such that would neither interest or amuse-
I received a letter from one of my friends yesterday in Wythe stating that John P Mathews & wife Miss F. Aikens were married-did you have an invitation to the wedding or infare?
It also informs me that, his holiness D St Clair was to be married shortly to some Milliner in Wythesville-astonishing-surprising that he who has supported such a name & bid so far to be one of our - Litenitic should so transveld his genius-by such an “onus”  I greatly wonder if Hymean who was anxious to crowd his shrine with votaries will permit D.-to be one of his - - Echo nearly Hespences no?  -are there to be any-more marriages in our county shortly

I extended my acquaintance a few days ago-very rapidly in West Chester (County Seat) I went entering unacquainted exceptly two or three- I dined with one of the D S, of the place-& so popular or so much admired (I leave you to judge)  Thus it did not cost me a cent besides being amidst the invitations of several-to come back-
Well at this session while dining after the first course a dish made its appearance laden with something name this long________________ tempting & delicious as it looked it almost in defiance to fork or knife imagine- the feelings of one from the mountains-who had never-read the Virginia "House Wife" or pondered-over the still more scravting pages-of D Orsay's Etiquette-yet I felt my-profession taxed-I was helped abundantly-of course-was very fond of it-(never having seen it before) yet to the close observer my contracted mouth & tear standing eyes too plainly bespoke its utter abhorence by the sense-of taste
