HYMENEAL - Dr. C. W. Gleaves, whose absence and its purpose were mentioned in this paper last week, returned via Richmond to this place from Baltimore last night with his bride and is receiving the congratulations of his many friends here.  We append below the BALTIMORCAN's mention of the "happy event".

                                Gleaves - Keene

A quiet wedding came off on Thursday last at half-past twelve o'clock, from the residence of Mrs. N. B. Keene, the mother of the bride, No. 334 North Fremont Street.  The contracting parties were Dr. C. W. Gleaves, a highly esteemed gentleman and well-known physician of Wytheville, Va., and Miss Laura Keene of this city.  The officiating minister was the Rev. Campbell Fair, D. D., of the Church of the Ascension.  The bride is a daughter of the late Mr. N. B. Keene, a prominent cotton broker of New Orleans, but the family have resided in Baltimore for some time past and only two years ago sustained a sad bereavement in the drowning of a noble son and brother, just 21 years of age.  Miss K. is a young lady of many accomplishments, and undeniable beauty.  Upon the occasion of her bridal, she wore a handsome cashmere white satin, trimmed with point lace and pearls.  The dress was manufactured in Europe especially for this occasion, and presented to the bride by an elder sister.  The bridal veil, wreath and flowers, were presented by another sister, who resides in Havana, Cuba, and were procured in that gay city.  The presents were very numerous and many of them valuable, but they were not displayed.  The groom is the son of Dr. S. C. Gleaves, late President of the Virginia Medical Society.  He is a gentleman of distingue appearance, and already enjoys a most extensive and lucrative practice.  The happy couple left on the 3:30 P.M. train of the Baltimore & Potomac Railroad Thursday for Richmond where they will probably remain a week, and then repair to their future home in Wytheville, Va.  The gallant young Virginian is to be congratulated, for he has wooed and wedded one of Baltimore's most estimable as well as greatly admired daughters.
