(Communicated)

Died – At the residence of his brother-in-law M. H. Gleaves, on the 29th inst., our much beloved and respected friend James M. Gleaves.  He was born on White’s rock, June 12, 1818.  In the fall of ’32 he professed Religion, and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in which he lived until his death.  But being young, and fond of the society of his young ireligous friends, he became cold, until death beat the retreat from earth’s battle field, and the Captain of his salvation , in the most melting strains, ordered him to take up the line of march for glory.  James was remarkable for his modest and retiring disposition.  W.W.W.
