Death of Mr. E. G. Robinson

(December 21, 1935)

 

  Mr. Ernest Graham Robinson, one of Wythe County’s prominent business men, died Saturday night at a Roanoke hospital where he had been for sometime.  He was sixty-one years of age and was born and reared at Graham’s Forge, being a son of the late John W. and Elizabeth Graham Robinson.  He possessed a cheerful and genial disposition and drew around him a wide circle of loyal and loving friends.  His passing has left a vacant place in many hearts.

 

  The remains were brought to his home at Graham’s Forge, where the funeral took place Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Graham’s Forge church, of which he had been a loyal and active member for a number of years.  Beside his wife, who was Miss Laura Keene Gleaves, a daughter of the late Dr. C. W. Gleaves of Wytheville, he is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Paul Kernan, of Bristol; Mrs. C. C. Hyatt, of Richlands; Mrs. John Ingles, of Richmond.

 

  The funeral service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. P. McCluskey, of Max Meadows, assisted by Rev. J. A. Baylor, D. D., Presiding Elder of the Wytheville District and Rev. W. H. Bowman, of the Wytheville Presbyterian Church.  The interment followed in the Graham Cemetery near the old Graham homestead.

 

  The active pall bearers were:  Messrs, J. L. Gleaves, S. T. Moore, G. R. Black, Robert Wilkinson, John W. McGavock, T. P. Wappett, Sr., James M. Graham and Thomas E. Simmerman.

 

  The honorary pall bearers were Drs. E. M. Chitwood, Chares F. Graham and C. R. Robinson, Messrs. E. H. Sanders, Garland D. Cassell, William Cash, John Reynolds, James Manuel, James Black, Charles T. Graham, W. D. Sanders, M. H. Jackson, W. B. Kegley, C. A. Spence, Jr., B. O. Johnston, W. C. Thomas, W. G. Shores, Trinkle Johnson, O. M. Johnson, David Graham, Fred Mathews, J. S. Lawson, E. W. Sudduth, Cloyd McGavock, G. B. Sanders, F. P. Chaffin, S. B. Campbell, P. F. Campbell, Waller S. Poage, George B. Simmerman, R. C. Patterson, D. S. Blair, J. Elbert Simmerman and M. A. Shuff, of Pulaski.

Ernest Graham Robinson was the husband of Laura Keene Gleaves.
