Copy of original land grant of 106 acres

John Tyler, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia:

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME ---GREETING: KNOW YE,

That by virtue of a Land Office Treasury Warrant number seven thousand four hundred and forty four, issued the 20th of October 1781

there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto William Glaves

a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing one hundred and six acres, by survey bearing date the seventh of April, One thousand eight hundred and eight, lying in the County of Wythe, on Cripple Creek and bounded as followeth, to wit; Beginning at a locust post in an old field, corner to Hobbs' old survey of sixty eight acres thence North twelve degrees, West one hundred and eighteen poles with Newell's line to two chestnut oaks on the point of a ridge corner to Danners' land and with lines thereof, North sixty eight degrees East one hundred and twenty poles to a white and black oaks, North sixty three degrees, East one hundred and seventy poles to a red oak and dogwood on a steep bank then leaving said lines, South fifty eight degrees East nine poles to a poplar and white oak, corner to Beabers' and Hobbs land, and with the latter, South forty six degrees, West three hundred and thirty four poles to the beginning,

with its appurtenances.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said

William Glaves

and his heirs forever.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said John Tyler, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the first day of March one thousand eight hundred and ten --- and of the Commonwealth the thirty fourth --- John Tyler Richmond Feby 18th 1859. I certify that the foregoing is a copy from the Records of the Virginia Land Office.
