Transcriber Notes

The surveyor’s calls (measurements) in this deed are given in metes and bounds. Distances are given in poles, with 1 pole equalling 16 ½ feet. For example N 71 E 84 would call for a line with a heading of North 71 degrees East, running for 84 poles.

The text on the bottom of page two is a later list of instructions to enslaved men and women for doing various jobs, signed “GMG.”
