I do hereby certify that I cryed the sale of the lands belonging to the estate of Randle Rutherford Decd, in which J. T. Gleaves is the executor and he the said J. T. Gleaves became the purchaser of the said land at the price of eight hundred & five dollars

Transcriber Notes

Randolph Rutherford, who died in January, 1841, had appointed his neighbor, James T. Gleaves, as his executor. Rutherford had directed in his will that his land be sold upon his death. Estates were commonly disposed of at auction. James Wallis was the auctioneer who “cried” the sale.
