                   Centerville  Va
                     Oct 18" 1861
Dear Father
     You will see
from my caption that
we have moved our [camp]  
our retreat is a trick
no doubt to get out the Yankees
from their fortifications.
It is thought we
might have another battle
in a short time,  I can
say nothing as to the truth
of the above report.  Our
men are anxious [  ] 
the contest,  We [  ]
news of any impor[   ]  
our men are gen[   ]
well-I saw Dr Coop[  ]

who has just returned from home.  He tells me that he heard you were much better, which I was truly glad to hear.  I would be glad to hear from home.  I think Wythe might write, I have not heard from Robt or the Dr.  Hoping that you and Mother are much better
