Hi,

Can you believe it?!?  Just one month away from the reunion.  Lee & I are planning one more trip up next week to check on everything and finalize details at the hotel.  Just to give you a recap of events for the weekend.

Friday we will begin our reunion with ice breakers and get to know one another starting at 9:00 am.  If possible, please check in at the registration table before that time and pick up your packet. This will be a good time to sign up and pay the $5.00 per person for the picnic on Saturday at the Dempsey one-room school.  You will also be registering for door prizes (We have lots of them.) and finding your spot on the TB Gleaves Family Tree so give yourself extra time.  Next Judy Tracey, our local historian, will be giving us an education about Oklahoma history and the one-room school.  After a short break, Robert Gleaves will fill us in on as much history as we know about TB Gleaves and his descendents.  Lunch will be on your own, then the Elk City Museum is expecting us for a tour which will give us even more insight to what early pioneers in TB's days experienced.  That evening, we encourage everyone to go with us to Simon's Catch to enjoy catfish or steak.  Later that evening we will share personal Gleaves stories and pictures in the conference room or if you are tired from your travels, you can call it an early night.

Saturday will be filled with lots of sightseeing.  We will drive about 20 - 30 minutes to Brookside Cemetery where TB & Nancy are buried.  On our way to TB's homestead, we will pass by "Boot Hill" and "Death Valley".  Mrs. Tucker, current owner of TB's homestead,  will be waiting to give us a tour of  her log cabin full of antiques, many from the farm which has been owned by the Tuckers since the early 1920's.  Our next stop will be down the road about 2 miles to the site of the Gleaves dug-out where several stories of days-gone-by will be shared.  This site is just across the road from Arthur Neely's Homestead.  (He was a son of TB's).  Lunch will be picnic style at the old Dempsey one-room school just 4 miles from TB's homestead.  (You can purchase the meal at the registration table on Friday for $5 each.)  The afternoon sessions will be back at the Clarion where Robert will focus on the Gleaves ancestors when they arrived here from England in the early 1700's.  There will be an auction of items that you are bringing to raise money for the Gleaves Family Association and its website.  Alice Hix, our webmaster,  will give us a tour of the website and show us how to access a wealth of Gleaves information.  Dinner, or supper as some of us okies call it, will be on your own, then we will meet back for more story sharing and visiting.

Lee & I will be checking into the hotel Thursday afternoon, so feel free to call and make contact with us that afternoon.  It would be fun if we could meet some where for dinner (supper) that evening.  So stay in touch.  My cell phone number is 580-351-7895 and Lee's is 580-351-7804.

Now the Family Feud.

Other Gleaves are coming but are not of the TB Gleaves Family Tree.  I still have several who have indicated that they are coming just have not sent their registration yet.  May I take this time to encourage you to do that as it will speed things up at the registration table.

Question: Which President of the United States owed a Gleaves money which was never repaid?

See you next month,
