David Gleave Clark 1927 ~ 2011 David Gleave Clark, 84, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2011 in St. George, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 6, 1927 to Judge Rulon W. Clark and Clara Caroline Gleave. He attended Salt Lake City schools and the University of Utah where he was a member of the football team and affiliated with Pi Kappa Alpha. He obtained a degree in Architecture from the University of Southern California. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. In 1951 he married Julia Esther Caine, with whom he had three children, Julie Anne, Carole Lynne, and David Caine. She died on November 29, 1957. In February, 1959 he married Bonita Ruth Callister with whom he had a son, John Robert. She died on February 8, 1987 and John Robert in May of 1987 (the same year). In 1988 he married Marita Owen and she died on October 8, 2009. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission as a young man in Argentina. When he was married to Julia, he served in Southern California as a young Bishop and then in the Stake Presidency. During his marriage to Bonita, he served as Mission President of the Guatemala/ El Salvador Mission and later as Director of Temporal Affairs in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Also, he served twice as a Regional Representative to the Quorum of the Twelve, over the Central American Missions and the Spain and Italy Missions. When he was married to Marita, he served as a Temple President in Santiago, Chile. David was always busy serving others and made such a difference to so many in his various Church callings. He was a talented Architect and had a very successful business. He will be greatly missed by all his family and many friends. He is survived by his three children, Julie (Jeff) Richardson, Carole (Ken) Brown, and David (Wendy) Clark. In addition he is survived by Marita's three children, Derek (Carolee) Boam, Dana Boam, and Carrie (Ryan) Miller. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive, along with his sister, Fern Fox, and his brother, Calvin (Hilda) Clark. Funeral services will be held at the Federal Heights Ward building located at 1300 Fairfax Road in Salt Lake City at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011. A viewing the night before on March 25th, will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and at 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Sat. Interment will be in the City of Farmington Cemetery.
