PARKS, Dr. Mary Olive Gleave died January 25, 2012

Dr. Mary Olive Parks, age 61, of Gainesville, Ga., died Jan. 25, 2012.

Mrs. Parks was born in Chicago, Ill. She was employed with the Hall County Schools system for 33 years. She retired as director of student services. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Ga. Dr. Parks was involved in Girl Scouts, United Way, and lots of other community projects.

She was the daughter of the late Winston Gleave and Olive Wilhem Gleave.

She is survived by her husband, Loy Parks, Gainesville, Ga.; daughter, Lolita Parks, Gainesville, Ga.; son, Matthew Loy Parks, Dahlonega, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Stan Bales, Woodridge, Ill.; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Charlyne Gleave, San Diego, Calif., Fred and Gloria Gleave, Evanston, Ill.; granddaughter and husband, Tiffany and Dusty Turpin, Cleveland, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brynn and Bryson Turpin. A host of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Banister Funeral Home chapel in Dahlonega.

The Rev. Blake McCoy will officiate.

Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery in Dahlonega, Ga.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in charge of the arrangements.
