FORT WORTH - C.B. Gleaves, 86, a retired engineer for Frisco Railroad, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial park.
C.B. Gleaves was born July 16, 1913, in Van Alstyne, to Alvie O. Gleaves and Maude Tipton Gleaves. He attended school there. He worked at Hardwick-Etter in Sherman as a sheet metal worker before going to Orange and working at Consolidated Steel Shipbuilding. He went back to Sherman in 1945 and worked for Frisco Railroad for 32 years. He retired as locomotive engineer in 1977. He was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and read his Bible daily. Survivors: Wife, Maxine Gleaves of Benbrook; sons, Ben Gleaves and wife, Bette Sue, of Truscott, Bob Gleaves of Austin; grandson, Benjamin Gleaves and wife, Christie, of Sherman; great-granddaughter, Jessica Gleaves of Sherman; and his beloved companion, his dog, Katie.
