GLEAVES, Herbert died April 10, 2008

Mr. Herbert "Bud" Gleaves, age 88, of Eagleville died Thursday morning, April 10, 2008 at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Gleaves was born in Wilson County and was a son of the late Herschel and Vera Olds Gleaves. He was a farmer and retired after 20 years of services with American Freight Company. Mr. Gleaves served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Eagleville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Mae Underwood Gleaves who died in 1996.
Mr. Gleaves is survived by five daughters, Edna (Steve) Coleman of Madisonville, Joan (Jesse) Leegon of Nashville, Norma Carter of Clinton, Angela (Ronnie) Haskins of Shelbyville, Gidget (Edward) Van Dusen of Ohio; three sons, Murry (Kaye) Sanders of Titusville, Fla., Michael (Janet) Gleaves of Eagleville, Richard (Andrea) Gleaves of Rockvale; good friend, Evelyn Crosby-Gleaves of Nashville; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Grooms officiating. Burial will follow in Carlton Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
