Jeannette Davis Gleaves COLUMBIA - Mrs. Jeannette Davis Gleaves, 95, of Columbia, died on Thursday, October 11, 2012. Born on August 30, 1917, in Hazelhurst, GA, she was a daughter of the late Jackson Keenan Davis and Pearle Hinnant Davis. In 1942, she married Mr. William Dake Gleaves, "Net" served her family as a homemaker and caregiver to all the children in the family throughout her life. She was deeply devoted to her husband, daughter, and grandchildren. Her great-grandsons were the light of her life. Mrs. Gleaves is survived by a daughter, Jackie (Bob) Gettle; grandchildren, Jenny (Ray) Carver, and Ted Burdell, Jr.; great-grandchildren, John Robert (Gabrielle) Watson, Scotty Watson, Ethan Watson, Trey Carver, and Krysten Gunter; nieces and nephews, Debra Daniel, Terri Mitchum, Nancy McAmis, and Dr. Robert Gleaves and Dr. Edwin Gleaves. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gleaves was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Davis Daniel; twin brother, Jackson Keenan Davis; and by her husband of 27 years, Mr. William Dake Gleaves. A memorial service for Mrs. Jeannette Davis Gleaves will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with the The Rev. L. Craig Wilkes officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by Don Jarvis. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Mrs. Gleaves' great-grandsons, and her great-nephews, Andrew and Todd Mitchum. The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased, 3708 Carriage House Road, Columbia, and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
