Lorene Gleaves, 80, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Lifeway Fellowship Church with Dr. Randy Davis, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park East Mausoleum by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 Interstate 40.
Mrs. Gleaves was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Sweetwater, (Mayfield), Okla., to the late Thomas and Rilda Coffey. She graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1942. Mrs. Gleaves married Alva Duane Gleaves on Aug. 15, 1942. She was happily married for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Gleaves resided in the Amarillo area for the past 57 years. She was an active member of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church. She was the treasurer of her Sunday school class.
Mrs. Gleaves was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a proud homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 28, 1997.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois Whipkey of Fritch and Pauline Lyons of Oklahoma; three sons, Dale Gleaves, Michael Gleaves and Dan Gleaves and wife, Rita, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Ann Sherrill and husband, Robert, of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Darrell of Borger, Frankie of Lubbock and Christy, Jennifer, Ricky, Justin, Josh and Daniel, all of Amarillo; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice or to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.
