Marcia B. Gleaves

An informal celebration of the life of Marcia B. Gleaves, 85, of Granville, will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at the Chapel Grove Inn, 1400 Chapel Way, Heath.
Mrs. Gleaves, a creative and avid gardener who truly loved her profession as a floral designer, died Nov. 25, 2005, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born June 24, 1920, in Cleveland, to the late Elsie (Marsh) and Louis Brandt.
Mrs. Gleaves lived in France and Florida as a child, and as an adult lived in Cincinnati, Columbus and Granville. She received formal training at Bill Hixon's School of Floral Design in Chicago and was a Life Member of the Granville Garden Club. She also loved spending time in the Granville Public Library and maintaining her gardens.
Surviving are her children, Charles Gleaves, of Mansfield, Alice Wakefield, of North Carolina, Julia Platt, of Pennsylvania, and Marcia Forrest, of Illinois; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Clifton B. Gleaves, whom she married in 1942; and one sister, Elizabeth M. Barkalow.
The McPeek Funeral Home in Granville is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Granville Garden Club Memorial Tree Fund, P.O. Box 198, Granville, OH 43023.
