Linda Ann Smart (Johnson) was born on August 29, 1937 in Independence, Missouri. She grew up in Oak Grove, Missouri. She is the daughter of Leonard and Anna Mildred (Wyatt) Johnson and sister to Wallace Johnson and Paula Poll (Johnson). Linda graduated in 1955 from Oak Grove High School and then attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for two years before beginning her 35 year career at Trans World Airlines Credit Union. Linda married John Lewis (Jack) Smart on November 20, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple settled in Independence, MO after their wedding; celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2010. They have one son, Steven; a daughter in law, Randi; and three granddaughters: Lauren (deceased), Kirsten, and Megan. A woman of faith, Linda was active in Maywood Baptist church of Independence for the last 23 years where she participated in Bible studies, Sunday school classes, worked in the nursery and library and helped Jack in his role as Scoutmaster of Maywood's Boy Scout Troop 201. After retiring in 1998, Linda took up the hobby of porcelain doll making for which she received numerous awards. She is survived in death by her husband Jack Smart of Independence, her son Steven and Daughter in Law Randi and their daughters Kirsten and Megan of Pike Road, Alabama, her sister Paula and brother in law Ed Poll of Los Angeles, CA, her brother Wallace of Oak Grove, MO, her sister in law Barbara Helvie of Independence, MO, and her sister in law Norma Smart of York, NE as well as several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held in her honor at 10:00 am at Maywood Baptist Church in Independence, MO. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired in Kansas City, Missouri or the Disabled Veterans of America.
