September the 14th 1821

Dear Brother Its with degree of pleasure I onst more take my pen in hand to inform you of the present situation of my family. At present we are enjoying good health. At present hoping this few lines may find you all well. I wrote you an answer to that last letter I recived from you giving you an answer what John McNeal stated about the two harlead (hundred) of money when I warnd (warrented) it to MacNeal that you requir him to write you a few lines on that subject. He redily concented to rite to you on that bisness I have often maid applications to him for it but cant get it. I [ think the ] letter to you has been miscarried is the reason I have not [ heard ] from you. MacNeal stated to me that [ ] and Polly both stated the same about the [ ] of money. I would be glad to heare from you at [this] time. It out of my power to come in this fall [ ] remarkable hard in this country you can tell [ ] Stephen Sanders that I have been three times [ ] Guifans but they are insolvent not worth the po[wder ? ] that would kill them. I also want you to tell C[ ] Neuel no (know) that Jones Menafeild departed th[is life] Saturday last after a short spell of the feve[r ] of him is much lamented. He was one of my B[est friends] in this county. Please give my compliments to [Malvina] and Sister Nancy and all enquiring friends.

Pray excuse my short letter as I am on business in Nashville. You will please rite to me how you are come on collecting the money of the Estate. You will please rite me how Charlet and her little boy is. Nothing more at present but remain your loving brother.
