William Gleaves died in 1820. His will (Letter #461) bequeaths virtually all of his land to his youngest son, James Turk Gleaves. The specific instructions regarding the Crab Orchard tract required James to compensate his sisters: Elizabeth Ramsey, Margaret Turk, Esther Finley, Sally Allen and Nancy Gleaves, twenty five Pounds each for their interest in this land
This document reflects one of these payments to Margaret's husband, Thomas Turk III. It is unclear as to the meaning of the numbers that appear at bottom. It is possible that they were added later as James kept track of the division of his father's estate.
