This indenture made and entered into this 11th day of June 1834.  Between Leonard Straw and Lucy his wife of the one part and James T. Glaves of the other part both of Wythe County Virginia  Witnesseth that the said Leonard Straw and Lucy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and Seventy Five Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargarined and sold unto the said James T. Glaves a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Wythe on the North side of Cripple Creek containing four hundred and Sixty acres more or less being the same land which was surveyed for James Newell and sold by him to Bell and Kincanon and is bounded as follows to wit.

Beginning at two chestnut oaks on a high ridge S ¼  E 160 poles to a white oak by the Creek  N 70  W 18 poles up to creek to Beach Saplings  S 67  W 205 poles to a double Hickory and White oak Sapling on the Bank of said creek at the foot of a high hill  N 53  W 122 poles to a hickory and pine:  S 65  W 122 poles to a white oak and red oak  N 6  W 182 poles to a white oak  East 400 poles to the Beginning.  To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenaces to the said James T. Glaves & his heirs forever to the sole use of him the said James T. Glaves and his heirs forever and the said Leonard Straw and Lucy his wife for themselves and their heirs do covenant with the said James T. Glaves & his heirs that they the said Leonard Straw and Lucy his wife the title to the said tract or parcel of land do and shall forever Warrant and defend against the claims of themselves

and their heirs and against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whomever but with this liquidation and distinct agreement and understanding between the said Leonard Straw and the said James T. Glaves that the aforesaid general warranty is not to extend to than a greater quantity of the aforesaid Tract or parcel of land three hundred and ten acres the remaining quantity within bounds of the survey aforesaid the said Leonard Straw and Lucy his wife Warrant against the claims of themselves & their heirs and all persons claiming by through or under them & no further.

In witness whereof the said Leonard Straw and Lucy his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written

Sanders and Fontaine Watson acting Justices of the peace in and for the County aforesaid do hereby Certify that Leonard Straw a party to a certain deed bearing date on the 11th day of June 1834 and hereto annexed this day personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired us to certify his said acknowledgement to the Clerk of Wythe County in order that said deed may be recorded

Wythe County S.C.
We John A. Sanders and Fontaine Watson acting Justices of the peace in and for the County of Wythe and State of Virginia do hereby certify that Lucy Straw wife of Leonard Straw parties to a certain deed bearing date on the 11th day of June 1834 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our said County on this day and being examined by us separate and apart from her said husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Lucy Straw acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it.

Virginia: at a Court held for Wythe County at the Courthouse on Monday the 14th day of July 1834.

This Deed of Bargain and sale was returned to Court and with the Certificates of acknowledgment and privy examination annexed ordered to be recorded
