From Mineral Springs of North America by John Jennings Moorman, 1867 ed.
The Grayson Sulphur Springs are on the west side of the Blue Ridge, in the county of Carroll, twenty miles south of Wytheville. They rise on the banks of New River, in the midst of scenery remarkable for its wildness and grandeur, - in a region as salubrious and invigorating as any in our country.
From Southwest Virginia Crossroads by Joe Tennis
Visitors once sought springwater to cure various ailments at Grayson Sulphur Sprints, a resort founded circa 1835. At the time, Carroll County was still a part of Grayson County. By 1913, the business at Grayson had closed, and the site was flooded with the construction of the Byllesby Dam on the New River.
