Education
The first thing that a youth ought to do is to get an education. So he can be of great use to his country. When he has completed his education he may be qualified for any business that is necessary through life. But a man without an education is like a “marble of rock”. He is like the savage that roam over the West. Look to the savage [na]tions of the world where the people bow down to worship rocks and even sticks and animals the workmanship of men & nature.
And what is the reason of this? It is very readily accounted for because they have not the chance to improve their mental (faculty &c) faculties.
