I John Wright Justice of the peace in and for the said County of Davidson do hereby certify that the within named Sarah Gleaves is a Lady of the highest moral standing in the Community in which She resides both as to Chastity Voracity and in all other things which constitutes a Lady of the highest Circle of Life.

Transcriber Notes

The woman written about in this document is Sarah “Sallie” Smith Gleaves, (1776-1845) wife of Thomas.

On this date, Sarah made a deposition in conjunction with a Revolutionary War pension application by a widow named Lucy Garland.  It would appear that Mr. Wright penned this to accompany the application and vouch for Sarah’s character.
