Head Quarters
Abingdon Virginia June 13th 1861
Dear Sir,
I received your letter this morning, and also one from your Father in regard to the appointment of your Brother, as one of my staff. The situation in which I have been placed by the unfortunate condition of our country, is entirely new to me, I am not satisfied what power I possess in the appointment of my staff. I have written to Major J. F. Hunt for information; and expect an answer in a few days, when that information comes to hand, I will then learn what power I have, and I will cheerfully attend to the wishes of you and Father, I am with feeling of the highest regard Yours most respectfully
AC Moore, Col
Con.dr Va Va

Your Father wishes an immediate answer. I hope you will give him this letter in which will be a reply for him.
