Dear Father
I write hoping some of you will answer this & let me know how you & Mother are, I would have gone & seen you when in Wytheville but my furlough was a short one & had to leave in a few days.  I had a letter from Maria (or rather her Sister) in which she stated you were as well as usual.  Our Regiment is to leave in a short time to go to Tenessee or Alabama so says rumors & I'll try & callt & see you as we pass   I have no news.  I am comfortable situated at present but little sickness.  I-wrote to you some days ago-did you get it?
Write soon & let me know how you both are-Bob is well
                                 Your Son
                                     Samuel
