                       Febry 7th 1863
Dr SC Gleaves
     My Dear Sir
I received yours of the 4th int this morning, I also received one some ten days ago.  There is very little news.  You will see from the address that we have changed our "base".  We came from "Camp Delusion" on the 5th & 6th, one co was left at Salt (E). One gone to Mouth of Indian (H).  The others are quartered in the buildings .  Very comfortably situated.  It is too good for the 45th to enjoy long.  The regt was ordered to Mouth of Indian,  Through Genl Williams influence we got into the houses.  The 22nd Regt went to Lewisburg Va.  The battalion is at Centerville.  I understand it will go to Alderson's Ferry-We have had some very rough weather.  The days coming down was very cold.

We have very little sickness, though some more than when you left.  Dr. Templeton is at Montgomery White has 2 wards and upwards of 200 patients.  Hoyt is in charge   Clark is with the regt.  He brought his commission as Asst to Dr Hunter, and requested to be returned to the 45th which was done,  Very lately he has been ordered by the Surg Genl to report to Genl Bragg  it came through Med Direct-He seems very careless about going.  I think he is going to Remonstrate through Duke.  Hunter & other officers,  Duke told him that he would "fix it that he would not have to go".  He expressed great antipathy to going-preferring to give a substitute -&c &c  From what Dr Hunter said to me I think you could have any change you desire to return to us,.  Dr Hoyt is a nice man & good physician, and gives general satisfaction

Floyd Acord is still with us and Billy Williams,  he would like for you to return, and if I am not very much deceived the entire Regt would like it very much- I would like it very much-I think it would suit you finely to be with the 45 again-We have no interesting news-I thought you were going to keep Billy for your family-I got the amt from Jas Crockett.
I believe this is all that would interest you-
Write soon and give me the "signs of the times"
     Very Truly Yours &c
     Geo L Nye

PS
Dr Clemter is at Giles CH and has rec’d your letter before this-if I see him soon I will do as you request.  I got the Due Bill from Pettyjohn and burned it
