Emory & Henry College
Nove. 28th - 41

Dear Father
I avail myself of this opportunity, of informing you that I have not heard from any of you, since you left the College. Whether the letters have been misplaced or not is for you to say. For since you left here I have written two or three times. But you must be all well else you would have written, so I will let it go. But I will advise you to take the mote out of your eye before you tell me to write. As this is the last time that I will write for this Session, I merly want to know how we will get home. For my part I could walk, but for Wythe he is too small. James Davis wishes that I would go by with him if I walked but I told him I would let you know something about it and then I could tell him more (about it). But if you conclude to send for us and only come to the Allens, let us know how we will get our cloths there & we will walk that fare.

So you may fix on some day that we will not be disappointed as the session will be out on the 22nd of December but I don't expect there will be much done from Friday till Wednesday. So you may send so we will get home after or before the examination, but Wythe wants to get home as soon as possible the examination will be very small as the most of the students are going home before. But Mr Collins objects to it. I have no news of any importance but several of the students yesterday got public reproof.

Yours very Respectfully
Samuel C Gleaves

J. T. Gleaves

(P S) Write as soon as you get this and let me know all about my transportation from E & Henry to Wythe.
S.C.G.

Transcriber Notes

Samuel states that this will be the last letter that he will write home since the current school session is drawing to a close. However this will be the first of three letters that he will write home regarding transportation for he and Wythe. See letters 248, 247, 249 and 250 for the exchange between father and son.
