Our Xmas Gift to Jesus 1895
Anna, Alice, Laura and Belisa Gleaves were such loving little sisters, that they enjoyed nothing that was not equally divided – and as Grandma’s presents were frequently a half or a quarter of a dollar, they were always in a dilemma as to the odd cents, so Mamma suggested an extra “money box for Jesus”. Her Babies gladly grasped the idea, and on Xmas day had 60 cents to give to Mr. Campbell. He gave it in their names to little McBride, the poorest child at Tin Tom Sunday School, as Mamma designated it was to be for ‘the most forlorn of “Jesus’ little ones”.

We also had Mildred and Belisa’s picture taken together as a pleasant souvenir of Aunt Marie and Mildred’s visit, and also one of Laura Keene teaching Belisa her prayers as she is such a sweet little mother to Belisa, as sweet as Alice was to her, and Anna to little Alice.
