A paragraph from a letter from Grandma Keene.
“At the same time that I recd Jules Mazerat’s invitation fromNew Orleans, I also heard from the Pastor of the Church inPortland. They are building a new church at the cost of $9000.00; in the Tower windows there is in each one to be put the name of a beneficiary, and one window complimentary. When my name was proposed for the last named window, it was voted unanimous and the best window given as a memento of the most pleasant and loving visitor that had ever come among them. will be selected to tell this, and this will be a comfort to any loved ones, when I have gone from there, and I hope it will prove as blessing to keep them in the straight path. You see it is the window that he has marked, the most conspicuous, just over the large entrance. Annie Stroble lives just two squares from the church, and it is a street that will be the finest in the city. My donation to the building was but two dollars, so you see it is not a money matter. I hope every one of your family will be happy in this as though far away it is some honor to them also.

Anna’s Fall
Anna’s worse fall, was to turn three somersaults from the top of the stairs to the bottom. Mamma heard her fall and ran in time to keep her whole from being on her neck, as the poor little girl came down head foremost. Then Papa had to help Mamma too, as she thought surely her darling’s back was broken. However there were only bruises, and we felt as thankful as when Anna recovered from Typhoid Fever.
